hideo exhibition

concept&design An exhibition celebrating an ideal of beauty that, before captivating the eye, gently caresses the soul and body.

An approach revealed through the delicacy of an exhibition that speaks the elegant language of Japan: a bright, intimate space whose surfaces are entirely covered in warm textile textures. Hideo’s understated presence welcomes visitors from the very entrance. A noren curtain seems to protect the intimacy of those entering this space, where the bathtubs designed by Hideo Shimizu take centre stage in this silent “theatre of wellbeing”.

The meticulous attention to the exhibition design, where the bathtubs interact with elegant supporting elements — objects and furnishings from Japanese culture — recalls the monastic care and dedication with which Hideo Shimizu has spent more than half a century shaping bathtubs inspired by his love for his country’s traditional culture. Transcending the conventional notion of design, these bathtubs acquire the symbolic value of an ideal of gentle beauty.

An exhibition conceived for Milan Design Week 2026.
